Salt Lake Temple

Central Salt Lake City is dominated by the Salt Lake Temple (here built by Xarquar), which is the largest Temple of the LDS and also home to the President and the Quorum of the Twelve, the leaders of the church.

  1. Just a clarification: the SLC Temple is *not* the home of the President or Quorum of the Twelve. They sometimes hold meetings there, but they all have perfectly normal homes elsewhere.

  2. Sorry, perhaps a poor use of words. I meant to use 'home' as in the way you might say that the US Capitol Building is home to the Senate and the House of Representatives, as in that's where they meet, not where they sleep at night (as opposed to saying that the White House is home to the President, in that he both works there and lives there). I didn't realize that they only 'sometimes' meet there - I thought that was where they normally meet.

  3. No, there are other buildings nearby where they meet more regularly. I can see how you might think that though. The temple is primarily used for members to come and be closer to God. They can also be married to their spouses in the temple, and perform other ordinances all centered around Jesus Christ and the eternal nature of families. The Prophet and the Quorum of the Twelve meet and work in offices just down the street. PS that's a cute temple you made.

  4. Thank you for the clarification. BTW, I'm not the builder of this. This was made by a LEGO builder with the online nickname Xarquar, who I link back to in the original post.
