I thought about writing a longer post discussing the accuracies and inaccuracies of this. For instance, they are in the lower room, where animals were often kept during the night, rather than the upper room ('kataluma', often translated as 'inn').
Of course, the magi (an there is no biblical reference as to how many there were), showed up some time after Jesus' birth. So all of the Christmas card scenes with shepherds and wise men showing up simultaneously are incorrect. It is likely Jesus was a toddler by this point, as Herod sought to eliminate boys "who were two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi".
Very nicely done! Not 100% Biblically accurate, though; but, besides that, superb.
ReplyDelete(The Wisemen weren't at the manger)
