Happy Saint Patrick's Day

Sorry for the long blogging hiatus. I do want to get back into things, and will soon, but I wanted to do a quick post on St. Patrick's Day. Like a great number of holidays (holy days), this too has a religious origin that has been largely lost in current celebrations. Patrick is credited with bringing Christianity to Ireland. Two stories about him have him miraculously driving the snakes from Ireland (depicted here by Histo-Sci) and using a shamrock to teach people about the Trinity (here by David FNJ).
